South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue’s central fire station will be hosting a fun-packed open day in a new partnership with The Moor, Sheffield.

The event, on Sunday July 18, is being held alongside ‘The Moor Village Fete’, offering the public the chance to see at first hand the work of a firefighter and to take part in a range of family activities as the Moor celebrates its £2.5 million makeover.

There will be a fire engine and a chip pan demonstration unit present, with demonstrations planned throughout the day. Community engagement advocates will be on hand to provide information and advice to the public on fire safety issues.

The Moor Village Fete also has an extensive line-up of entertainment, activities and attractions, including music and games from Hallam FM, bucking bronco, bouncy castle and Heeley City Farm animals. There will also be a craft fare, homemade food, street performers and children’s entertainment.

Central Station Manager, Diane Malpass said: “The event enables us to further engage with the communities we serve in a fun and informal environment. We hope we can learn at first hand the issues that affect them and how we can improve our services in the local community. Collaborating with the Moor Village Fete means that they will be even more entertaining activities, making the day enjoyable and fun for all the family. We are really looking forward to it”.
