Around 25 firefighters were called to a house fire in Walkley on Sunday evening when a blaze broke out in the converted loft of an end terrace property.

No-one was inside the house on Lonsdale Road at the time but a number of homes on the same row were evacuated over fears the fire could spread along the roof space.

Fire crews managed to contain the fire to the end house and residents were soon allowed back into their properties.

The cause of the blaze is believed to be accidental.
