Update 12pm - Please note that firefighters have now left the scene of this incident. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

More than 30 firefighters tackled a large blaze at Dearne Valley Foods in Thurnscoe in the early hours of Tuesday morning after a fire in a food fryer spread to the roof.

Crews from Dearne and Adwick were called to the premises on Albion Drive at around 00:15 and quickly drafted in support from other stations.

At the height of the fire, eight fire engines were at the scene along with an aerial ladder platform, and local residents were advised to keep doors and windows closed due to the amount of smoke in the area.

Firefighters managed to create a fire break to stop the blaze spreading to the firm's offices, and also protected a number of oil tanks and several caravans nearby.

Two fire engines remain at the scene (at 9.30am on Tuesday) damping down.
