Fire crews are currently attending a fire at a garage on Rowell Lane in the Loxley area of Sheffield.

Three fire engines from Rivelin and Elm Lane stations were called to the scene at 11pm.

The garage which contains several cars was well alight when firefighters arrived.  An acetylene cylinder was found in the building and there is a possibility that there may be other cylinders inside.

Standard fire service practice for all such incidents involving acetylene cylinders is to maintain a 200 metre exclusion zone around the incident for 24 hours as a precuationary measure.  No houses have been evacuated and nobody was injured in the fire.

It is not currently known how many cars are in the building, nor how the fire started.  An investigation will take place to find the cause of the blaze.
