Warehouse fire in Rotherham

Firefighters are currently at a large warehouse fire this evening (Monday 9th August) at Don Street in the Westgate area of Rotherham.

Crews were first alerted to the incident at 6:30pm.

Eight fire engines and three special units are currently at the scene.

The warehouse which was being used for storing flat pack furniture was well alight when fire crews arrived.  Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are tackling the blaze using hose reel jets.

Due to the large amount of smoke in the area, local residents are being advised to keep doors and windows closed.

It is currently too early to establish how the fire started, but a fire investigation will follow in due course.

Fire crews left the incident at around 2:30am this morning.

No casualties have been reported at this incident.

A fire investigation is now underway to determine the cause of the fire.
