Fatal house fire in Rotherham

A man has died after a fire at a house in Greasbrough, Rotherham in the early hours of Saturday morning.

 

Firefighters from Rotherham and Dearne were called to the semi-detached house on Wagon Road at 12:45am. 

 

A woman and two young children were found upstairs in the property and were rescued by firefighters.  The man was found downstairs and was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.

 

The woman and children were taken by ambulance to hospital.

 

The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen.  A full fire investigation will take place later this morning, to establish the cause of the fire.

 

Update

 

The investigation has now been completed and has been found to be an accidental fire which started at the cooker.
