Fire crews have spent the night tackling a large blaze at an old warehouse in Rotherham.

They responded at 8.45pm on Tuesday to reports that the derelict former Carpet Warehouse building was well alight, on College Road, Rotherham.

Around 25 firefighters attended with four fire engines, an aerial ladder platform and support vehicles.

College Road, MasboroughThey found around one-third of the 120m x 60m building fully involved in the fire, with the roof collapsing, making it unsafe for firefighters to enter the property. However, they used a covering jet to prevent the fire from spreading any further through the building.

Firefighters used an aerial ladder platform to tackle the fire from above throughout the night, and it was still alight at 8am on Wednesday morning.
