The communities of South Yorkshire comprise a broad social and cultural mix. These communities are protected by 23 Fire Stations throughout the county - 15 full-time, 6 part-time (retained) and 2 dual working (both full-time and retained)
The fire stations are divided into five groups, two covering Sheffield and one for each of the other districts within South Yorkshire (Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham).
Full-time firefighters work two day shifts, followed by two night shifts, then four days off on a four-watch system.
