South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue - Working For a Safer South Yorkshire

Training Centre

Training & Development Centre

South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue is committed to providing fit for purpose training and development opportunities and facilities for all its staff. The training function provides the principal resources to facilitate core, safety-critical areas of training during the initial or maintenance phases of a service member's career.

South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue’s main training facilities are located at the Training & Development Centre at Handsworth in Sheffield. Facilities at TDC include fully equipped lecture rooms, an ICT suite, fire training ground, state of the art Realistic Fire Training Building (RFTB), appliance driver training facilities, Incident Command Suite and supporting en-suite accommodation facilities.

TDC operates over a five day week. This assists in aligning the annual course programme to the Watch Duty system operated on fire stations.
