Had a fire? There's HOPE

Kitchen Fires Can Be Devastating

 HOPE Trauma Support Group

The HOPE support group has been brought together to offer a meeting and support structure for people who have lost someone through a fire or road traffic collision.

Contact is welcomed from anyone who has suffered the loss of someone through fire, road collision or in fact any incident attended by the Fire Service in South Yorkshire. We recognise the need you may have to meet/share with others who have experienced similar situations. Even if you feel you are coping, please consider contacting us as often people find that helping others through a similar experience can give a sense of purpose to their own lives.

British Red Cross- in partnership with South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue

The Fire Victim Support Service (FVS) has been a core service within the American Red Cross for many years and, because of its success, it was imported into the British Red Cross.  The South Yorkshire service was activated in May 1996 with one specially equipped vehicle.  A second vehicle was subsequently commissioned into service and both vehicles are strategically placed within the county.  In 2005 a decision was taken at national level to re-name the service in the UK the "Fire & Emergency Support Service" (FESS).  The changeover will be a gradual process.  South Yorkshire has already adopted the new name and it is displayed on the new vehicle, which was officially launched at Doncaster Fire Station on 5th October, 2005.
