This section is headed by Temporary Assistant Chief Fire Officer Neil Hessell. It includes the following functions:
Head of Service Delivery - Dave Kiddy
The Service Delivery function deals with the core business of our organisation namely, responding to emergencies and calls for assistance. Another part of our core role is to reduce the risk our communities face in terms of fire and road traffic collisions.
We currently have 17 Wholetime (staffed 24/7) Stations and 6 Retained Stations, (staffed by part-time personnel who respond from home when a call is received).
These stations are dispersed across the county each falling into two Districts, East (Doncaster and Rotherham) and West (Sheffield and Barnsley).
Each District has a District Manager who is responsible for the day to day management of each district in terms of ensuring that we meet our obligations within the partnership arena and also for ensuring our stations and staff are ready and adequately trained to respond to any call for assistance we receive.
The District Managers are also responsible for the wide range of community services we undertake including education and fire prevention. An important part of our prevention strategy is our Home Safety Check. This involves operational crews assessing domestic properties in terms of fire risk and where necessary fitting smoke detectors.
Service Delivery also undertake multi-agency and joint training exercises in readiness for any civil emergency including those related to potential terrorist attacks.
We continually assess the risks that are within South Yorkshire and meet that risk with an appropriate emergency response profile.
