Firefighters have saved a horse after it was found stranded in a canal in Barnby Dun, Doncaster.
South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue’s Technical Rescue Unit joined forces with firefighters from Dearne fire station to rescue the horse, which it is thought may have fallen in the canal after attempting to drink from it.
Two firefighters wearing dry suits used an inflatable walkway to reach the horse and tethered it using a head collar, before leading it to safety using a slope on the opposite bank.
The horse was spotted in the canal, which is 10 feet deep in places, by a jogger just after 6.30am this morning.
