Family Safe After Attic Fire

Fire
07 April 2010

A family escaped unharmed after a fire broke out in the attic of their home on Grange Avenue in the Hatfield area of Doncaster just before 9:30pm this evening.

Three fire engines from Thorne and Doncaster stations were quickly at the scene.  The family, a mother, father and teenage daughter were already out of the house on the arrival of the fire crews.

The neighbouring house was also evacuated due to the smoke seeping through the roof space.

Firefighters used a hose reel to extinguish the blaze which is thought to have started accidentally due to suitcases being stored in the attic on top of cables which overheated.

Fire crews left the scene at 11:19pm.
