Fire at Disused Club

20 April 2010

Firefighters have spent all night tackling a large fire at the disused Darnall Liberal Club on Irving Street in the Darnall area of Sheffield.

Fire crews were first alerted to the incident at around 6:30pm this evening (Tuesday 20th April).

At the height of the incident there were six fire engines in attendance from Darnall, Mansfield Road and Central station.

Residents in the local area were advised to keep all their windows and doors closed due to the thick smoke.

Firefighters worked hard to get the fire under control using main jets to fight the fire in the two storey detached property, which was vacant and boarded up.

The last fire engine left the scene at around 11:30am (Wednesday 21st April).

An investigation will be carried out to determine the cause of the fire.
