Around 30 firefighters remain at the scene of a tyres fire in Hampole, Doncaster this morning.

Crews were called to the Catplant landfill site on Hazel Quarry Lane at around 5am on Monday morning, with an area of tyres 100m x 60m on fire.

SYFR Group Manager Ade Robinson said at 8am on Tuesday: “We have the fire surrounded and the crews are making slow steady progress cooling it down, although there are still a number of hot spots.”

“This has been an extremely challenging incident and the firefighters have done an excellent job containing the fire in what are very difficult conditions.”
