SYFR’s new £5.5 Million Dearne Community Fire Station is now operational.
The station has the capacity for four fire engines and boosts a new state-of-the art technical rescue training facilities, which will enable a vast improvement in specialist training. Green features will also reduce the station’s carbon footprint and operating costs.
A community room is also available at Dearne, providing members of the local community with a place to hold discussions and meeting, but also improving the fire station’s links with the local communities it serves.
Station Manager Rick Rolt said: “We are delighted with the finished result of the station and everything has gone very smoothly considering the scale of the project.
“The station allows us to create a vital link with the communities we serve so that we can understand their needs and improve our service to them. We are working with the community at all levels now. And it’s a two way thing, as well as us going to them, we need them to come to us.”
