Firefighters have rescued a Doncaster man who they found unconscious and without a pulse after a house fire on Sunday evening.
The man in his 20s had been overcome by smoke and was found slumped in his bathroom when firefighters from Edlington and Doncaster stations arrived just before 7.00pm.
They carried him from the house, on Victoria Road, Balby, and administered emergency first aid, recovering the manís breathing and pulse before paramedics arrived to continue medical treatment and take him to hospital. He is now understood to be receiving treatment for burns at Pinderfields Hospital, Wakefield.
Fire investigators believe the fire was caused by a chip pan in the kitchen, which was extensively fire damaged. A dog who was also rescued from the property was cared for by neighbours.
