The emergency services are in attendance at Hallamshire Opticians on Glossop Road, Sheffield, where a bottle of chemicals which have exceeded their expiry date have been found. The chemicals have not been spilled or involved in fire; however, part of Glossop Road was closed for a short time as a precaution while further investigations were carried out. No evacuations of any premise have been made at the current time.

At the height of the incident South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue had three appliances and an incident support unit in attendance after being called shortly before 10.00am.

The incident was scaled down to one appliance at 11.00am.
