Fatal Fire Update

Fire Investigation Officers from South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue have completed their investigation into a house fire on Gregg House Road in the  Shiregreen area of Sheffield this morning.

The fire, in which a 79 year-old woman was found to have died, was accidental, caused by heat from a halogen lamp igniting materials in the woman's downstairs bedroom.

Fatal Fire in Sheffield

Fire Investigation officers from South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue are this morning looking into the cause of a fire at a house in Shiregreen where a woman was found dead.

Firefighters were called to the semi-detached property on Gregg House Road at just after 7 o’clock this morning.

They entered the house wearing breathing apparatus, and discovered the woman, in her late 70s, in a downstairs bedroom. The fire was extinguished but unfortunately the elderly lady could not be revived.

Officers are now working to establish the cause of the blaze which at this stage is not being treated as suspicious.
