Firefighters from South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue will be out and about in their local communities this bank holiday weekend, raising valuable funds for a charity that helps injured firefighters and their families.
They will be based in local supermarkets and town centres over the three day weekend, giving out novelty yellow helmets to the public for a small donation to the Fire Fighters’ Charity. They will also be offering free home fire safety checks to members of the public within South Yorkshire.
The annual event has previously raised significant funds for the charity, and this year the majority of fire stations within the county are taking part.
T/Area Manager Dave Kiddy said: “The Yellow Helmet Weekend is part of a national fund raising event organised by the Fire Fighters’ Charity, which is very close to our hearts. It is a fun weekend for everyone involved and enables firefighters to engage with the local community.”
