The Young Firefighters Association is open to all young adults aged between 13 and 17 years.

It´s where you can learn new skills and develop leadership qualities. Above all it´s interesting and a lot of fun.

As well as learning how to prevent and fight fires, a Young Firefighter is trained in:

  • Trust and team building
  • Adventurous outward-bound activities
  • Sailing
  • First aid
  • Drug awareness and moral decision-making
  • Community awareness and issues

And much more...

They also:
  • Attend Open Days and display the skills they have learnt.
  • Assist Fire Service personnel at Fire Safety Awareness events.
And have a lot of fun!

The Young Firefighters Association was introduced into South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue several years ago and now has 9 branches at the following fire stations:

Darnall Road, Barnsley, Rotherham, Mansfield Road, Elm Lane, Adwick-le-Street, Edlington, Royston, Lowedges Road
