A Safe Home for Children
  • Keep only one lighter or box of matches in the house.
  • Keep matches and/or lighters safely out of reach of your children.
  • Never leave children alone in the house.
  • Explain that fire is dangerous and should only be dealt with by adults.
  • Secure garden sheds and garages, as children may hide in them to play with fire.
  • Teach your children to STOP, DROP and ROLL if their clothing should ever catch fire

The ONE TO ONE scheme is run by South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue to help children experiencing problems associated with fire.
