Night Routines
Protect yourself at night and reduce the risk of fire by:
  • Keeping doors closed
  • Switching off as many electrical appliances as possible
  • Putting out cigarettes and candles safely, and keeping matches and lighters away from children.
  • Checking gas appliances and put a spark guard in front of open fires
  • Turning off your Electric Blanket
  • Keeping your keys near to the appropriate doors and windows
  • Keeping your staircase tidy and clear
  • Taking a mobile phone to bed with you for emergency calls

Take the right steps before you go to bed at night!

Smokers' materials were the most frequent source of ignition in accidental dwelling fire deaths in 2000, accounting for 41%.
