Pair Escape Pub Fire
Two young men leapt 15 feet to safety after being woken up by a smoke alarm in an Elsecar pub.
The fire started accidentally in a bin in the bar area of the Clothiers Arms on Cherry Tree Street shortly after 3.30am on Thursday. After hearing the smoke alarm the two men, who are in their 20s, climbed out of a bathroom window before jumping clear. Both were unharmed.
Firefighters from Brampton and Tankersley were called to the blaze, which caused smoke damage to the bar and first floor areas.
Bungalow Damaged Again
Fire has cause extensive damage to a bungalow on Church Lane, Cantley – the second fire at the property in a matter of months.
Firefighters from Doncaster and Rossington were called to the blaze just before 5.00am on Thursday and initially searched the detached property for occupants. Fortunately no residents were at home and an investigation into the blaze is now under way.
The bungalow previously suffered a fire in July when it was also unoccupied, in an incident which is still under investigation by South Yorkshire Police.
