Joint statement from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue and South Yorkshire police:

At about noon today (14 Sept 2008) emergency services attended woods near Hollins Lane, Sunnyside, Rotherham, following the death of a teenage boy.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue and South Yorkshire Police took part in a rescue operation after it is believed the teenage boy from the Rotherham area fell from an electricity pilon.

It is believed the boy was climbing the pilon and may have been electricuted before he fell.

The boy has not yet been formally identified.

SYP are investigating into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
