Welcome to the media section. Here, South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue's Corporate Communications Team aim to keep you up to date by delivering you all the news as it happens. Please click on the 'News' and 'Incidents' links on the left of the page to find out what is happening at South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue and in communities across the county.
The Corporate Communications office is ordinarily staffed between 7am and 5pm, during which time please call any of the numbers below.

Steve Chu - Head of Corporate Communications
Steve joined South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue in February 2007 following six years as Communications Manager at Sheffield Wednesday Football Club. His role within the Fire Service is to implement the Service’s three year corporate communications strategy, developing its two-way communications processes both internally and externally. Steve aims to support SYFR in working for a safer South Yorkshire, at a time of local and national change within the Service.

Katie Sedgwick - Communications Officer
Katie started her new role within the Corporate Communications Team in June 2007, following three years as a Communications, Engagement & Marketing Officer for South Yorkshire Police. Katie oversees the running of the Communications Team and is primarily responsible for media and news management. This includes liaising with the media and developing other communication methods with communities and within the organisation.

Jayne Sanderson - Assistant Communications Officer
Jayne has been with South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue since 2001 and has been part of the Communications Team since 2005. Jayne’s role is to assist the Communications Officer in issuing press releases and attending events and incidents, along with performing administrative duties and keeping the website up to date with all the latest information.

Ian Fenton - Assistant Communications Officer
Ian joined South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue in September 2007 from Real Radio Yorkshire. Before then he was a journalist at Hallam FM in Sheffield for six years. His role is to work alongside Jayne assisting the Communications Officer by issuing press releases, attending events and incidents, keeping the website up to date and performing administrative duties.
