The Educational area of our site is split into two distinct areas.

"Kids on Watch" has been specifically designed for younger children and it is hoped that you will spend some time with them browsing the site. Our aim is to provide an overall view of what the Fire Service does along with guidance and practical advice on fire safety matters.

Ensuring your children know what to do in the event of a fire is very important and all the family must be involved in the fomulation of an escape plan. How to make a 999 call is very important and all children should be made aware of the consequences of making hoax calls. The site is designed to be fun, giving the children an opportunity to learn whilst playing.

"How Hot Are You?" is aimed at young adults making them aware of the dangers of fire. It gives sound practical guidance on what to do in the event of fire and how to prevent fire from occuring. Here, they can find out how irresponsible actions such as hoax calls can lead to major consequences, not only for themselves, but to other peoples lives. They can test their knowledge in our fire safety quiz and if they would like to become more involved, they can find out how to join the "Young Firefighters" scheme. There is also a regular competition in which prizes can be won.

You can communicate directly with the the Brigade; ask questions, get practical help and advice and share your experiences. Your input will help us to maintain a useful and informative site, the perfect place for your children to learn on-line.

Find out what we do, what are our aims, what can we offer you and your children...?

Note:
Multimedia is a powerful complimentary tool to traditional learning. Using equivalent activities in tandem with more traditional methods will help your child remember and apply what he/she is learning. Children will remember what they learn through multimedia more easily - animations, sounds and interactivity are highly memorable.
