Staff Welfare

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue has several policies and schemes that are designed to create an environment of support for its entire workforce. Policies are in place to promote equal opportunities. Harassment, which includes bullying, is also covered by an organisational policy. These policies are designed to create a friendly, discrimination free, workplace, where an individual can discuss problems confidentially.

The Brigade has established a confidential help line for its employees to discuss such matters in a totally impartial manner.

The Occupational Health Unit provides a workplace medical service for its employees both on a mandatory and voluntary basis. The unit also provides a confidential counselling service.

South Yorkshire is active within the National Fire Services Benevolent Fund. This provides a range of services from welfare visits for personnel to convalescent and rehabilitation homes, all for the welfare of our serving and retired personnel.
