Education in Arson & Hoax Calls

Pioneered and filmed entirely in South Yorkshire, the Backfire video was commissioned by the UK Fire Service Research and Training Trust and given full Government backing, our Brigade being chosen because of its reputation for tackling major fire safety issues using contemporary methods in original ways.

Subtitled versions of the video, together with a teaching pack for a structured lesson plan aimed at Key Stage 3 children were also made available for use.

A copy of the video, together with a teaching pack was distributed to all Brigades throughout the country in order to share the initiative and highlight the availability of the resource for use in their own education programmes.

The response to the package has been very good, with approx. 300 additional copies of the video being ordered by a number of Brigades and other agencies for use in their arson reduction initiatives.
