The Young Firefighters Association is open to all young adults aged between 13 and 17 years.
It´s where you can learn new skills and develop leadership qualities. Above all it´s interesting and a lot of fun.
As well as learning how to prevent and fight fires, a Young Firefighter is trained in:
Trust and team building
Adventurous outward-bound activities
Sailing
First aid
Drug awareness and moral decision-making
Community awareness and issues
And much more...
They also:
Attend Open Days and display the skills they have learnt.
Assist Fire Service personnel at Fire Safety Awareness events.
And have a lot of fun!
The Young Firefighters Association was introduced into South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue several years ago and now has 9 branches at the following fire stations:
