This directorate is headed by Director of Finance & Resources Beverley Sandy and includes the following functions:

 

 
Acting Financial Services Manager – Shaun Howe

The Finance department has 5 teams who all work closely together to provide a full Finance function.

Accountancy – provides a comprehensive management accountant service for the Senior Management team and Budget Holders. Their prime responsibility is to provide monthly monitoring reports to ensure that the finances of the Fire Service are being well managed.

Payroll – provides a fully managed Payroll and Pensions function for existing SYFR staff and all retired Fire Fighters who are eligible for a Fire Service pension. Dealing with all aspects of Payroll and Pension related matters, ensuring government legislation, statutory guidelines and corporate processors and procedures are adhered to all times.

Payments & Revenues – responsible for all aspects of invoice payments, raising sales ledger invoices, debt collection, receipting and allocating of cash, administration and processing of staff expenses.

Financial Systems Administration – implement, develop and maintain all of the organisations Financial Systems. These systems include the Integrated Financial Management System , Web Basket Electronic Requisitioning and the Payroll System.  The team also provide day to day support to almost one thousand users of these systems.

Programmes office - provides a programme and project management governance service to SYFR in order to ensure all business change initiatives continue to support corporate strategy and that projects are managed to the required time, cost and quality

Head of Asset Management – Andrew Stevens

The Head of Asset Management has responsibility for three very varied and busy sections:

Property Services - looks after the repair and maintenance of our property, arranges and oversees new building projects and major refurbishments and undertakes general management of the property portfolio. 

ICT - keeps all our PC’s and associated software/hardware operating to enable us to conduct our day to day business; maintenance of our communication systems including radios and MDT’s and actively seeks out and helps develop the use of new systems.

Procurement - assists with the specification, identification of suppliers and the purchase of a wide range of goods and services. It provides a stores logistical function for the receipt and dispatching of goods and has responsibility for the procurement and issue of PPE , including corporate clothing.

 Head of Corporate Communications and Corporate Administration - Steve Chu

The Communications and Administration function operates as two teams:

Corporate communications – this team oversees all communication, consultation and engagement with the people who are most interested in South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue. These groups of people include local politicians, staff, the media, the public and local community groups. They are responsible for all key communication activities such as media relations, community safety campaign work, publications, this website and our presence social media, our e-newsletter, and events.

Corporate administration – this team, which includes our front desk reception staff, aims is to provide the organisation with a support service to deliver the highest standards of corporate governance in administrative and information management functions. They are responsible for knowledge management and implementing a number of customer service functions including the Freedom of Information Act, complaints and compliments and the staff suggestion scheme.
