Apprentices form a core part of our workforce strategy within South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue and we are building in new positions as we review and change our services. Our apprenticeships are offered within a range of our business area including; Business Administration, Human Resources, Electrical, ICT, Vehicle Workshops and a variety of other service improvement roles. These will be advertised on our website as individual opportunities become available.

South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue is seeking two apprentices to provide administration support to our Community Safety Team based at our Lifewise Centre, Hellaby, Rotherham, and also at our Command Head Quarters, Eyre Street, Sheffield. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join our Community Safety Team which provides front line education and guidance on fire safety and wellbeing to the communities of South Yorkshire.

37 Hours per week. Monday to Thursday (09:00 – 17:00), Fridays (09:00 – 16:30) 27 Days Annual Leave plus Bank Holidays
(Apprentices will be able to work on a flexi time system with a personal responsibility for ensuring excellent time management and work attendance, in addition to full attendance at all learning events, tutor and assessment sessions in line with the requirements for successful completion of the apprentice standard.)

Training to be Provided
Qualification: Business Administration Apprenticeship Level 3 Additional Qualifications:
NVQ Business Administration L2 (new recruits) or NVQ BA L3 (existing staff who already have NVQ BA L2) plus Functional Skills at Level 2 in English and Maths Assessment: Knowledge test, project and portfolio of evidence Education Method(s): Delivered in your workplace, a college tutor will visit every month; review meetings with the tutor, apprentice and their manager will be scheduled every 8-12 weeks
Important Other Information:
Pay£170 per week for the first year and continuing for those under 18 during their apprenticeship. This will however move to the minimum wage for the age of the apprentice from year 2 onwards for those over 18.
