Apprenticeships

Apprentices form a core part of our workforce strategy within South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue and we are building in new positions as we review and change our services. Our apprenticeships are offered within a range of our business area including; Business Administration, Human Resources, Electrical, ICT, Vehicle Workshops and a variety of other service improvement roles. These will be advertised on our website as individual opportunities become available.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking applications from those with a real drive to provide high quality services to make the public of South Yorkshire safer and who have a passion for learning new skills and helping others.

Vacancy – Improvement Technician Apprentice

  • Apprenticeship – 12-14 months fixed term
  • Salary – £170 per week
  • Hours – full-time, 37 hours per week
  • Location – Central HQ, 197 Eyre Street, Sheffield, S1 3FG

As part of our ongoing journey we are seeking applications for the role of Improvement Technician Apprentice within our Operational Support Team. This role will work across the organisation collating data, undertaking research and proposing new and innovative solutions to make our service more efficient and effective.

The successful candidate will undertake the Improvement Technician Level 3 Apprentice Standard which will focus on tools and strategies about making businesses work better and could lead to higher level professional qualifications or apprenticeships in this area.

We are seeking applicants who are interested in not just identifying areas for improvement but who can see the bigger picture, make connections and can propose new ideas and ways of working. Applicants will need a high attention to detail, the ability to learn to work with new systems and data and a confident attitude.
