Firefighters rescue 20 year old horse from mud

Firefighters have rescued a 20 year old mare called Gypsy from mud in Doncaster.

Adwick, Tankersley and Edlington crews attended the incident off Goldsmith Road, Balby at around 4.30pm on Sunday (30 October).

Crews worked off platforms and managed to secure a forward assist strop to the horse, despite fallen branches and vegetation making the rescue difficult.

Firefighters battled for an hour and a half to free the horse, who was eventually helped back onto its feet before happily tucking into a bucket of feed.
