Overnight incidents 15/16 April

Firefighters from Cudworth were called to a rubbish fire on Hunningley Lane, Stairfoot, at 7.14pm. Upon arrival they found a small pile of rubbish alight on a track next to the road. It is thought the incident had been started deliberately and the crew left at around 7.43pm.

Firefighters from Doncaster were called to a scrubland fire on Field Gate, Rossington, at 8.28pm. Upon arrival they found a large area of scrub alight, with several seats of fire. Given there have been previous incidents in this spot, and a group of young people were seen running away from the area, it is thought the fire had been started deliberately. The crew left at around 9.48pm.

Firefighters from Elm Lane were called to reports of a fire on Wingfield Road, Wingfield, at 9.23pm. Upon arrival they found a mattress on fire in the street, with nobody in attendance. It is thought this incident had been started deliberately and the fire was extinguished by 9.41pm.

Firefighters from Rotherham were called to a fire on Canklow Hill Road, Canklow, at 0.46am. Upon arrival they found a load of fly tipped rubbish alight at the top of Warden Street. This was dealt with by 1.02am and it is thought the fire was started deliberately.

Firefighters from Rotherham were called to a fire on Phoenix Riverside, Rotherham, at 0.57am. Upon arrival they found a batch of felled trees were well alight, on the corner with Sheffield Road. This incident is thought to have been started deliberately, and follows a number of similar incidents at this location recently. The fire was dealt with by 1.22am.

Firefighters from Barnsley were called to a fire on Wilby Lane, Barnsley, at 2.26am. Upon arrival they found a brazier full of rubbish well alight. This had been left unattended. The crew left the scene at 3.10am.
