Weekend incidents – 13/14/15 May

Friday 13 May

Firefighters from Doncaster, Edlington and Dearne were called to Great North Road, Woodlands, Doncaster, at 7.26pm. Upon arrival they found a first floor flat fire above a jewellers. This was dealt with by 10pm and is thought to have been started accidentally.

Firefighters from Rivelin were called to Platts Lane, Oughtibridge, at 10.43pm. Upon arrival they found a Fiat 500 well alight. This was dealt with by 11.33pm and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Maltby were called to Estfeld Close, Tickhill, at 10.56pm. Upon arrival they found a high sided Ford Transit on fire. This was dealt with by 0.06am and is thought to have started accidentally.

Saturday 14 May

Firefighters from Elm Lane were called to Everingham Road, Sheffield, at 0.03am. Upon arrival they found a Nissan Navaro well alight. This was dealt with by 1.23am and is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Rotherham were called to Hooton Road, Kilnhurst, at 1.22am. Upon arrival they found a Citroen C3 well alight. This was dealt with by 1.57am and is thought to have started accidentally.

Firefighters from Doncaster and Thorne were called to an industrial unit on Coulman Road, Thorne at 3.06am. Upon arrival they found an accumulation of dust and residue had set alight in the roof space. This was dealt with quickly and nobody was harmed. Crews left the scene at around 3.54am.

Firefighters from Lowedges were called to Stony Ridge Road, Sheffield, at 4.57am. Upon arrival they found a car well alight. This was dealt with by 5.44am and is thought to have started accidentally.

Firefighters from Dearne, Cudworth and Barnsley were called to Clayton Avenue, Thurnscoe, at 7.39pm. Upon arrival they found the downstairs room of a house well alight. This was due to an incense burner falling onto a sofa and setting it alight, whilst the owner was in bed. This was dealt with by 10.10pm and the fire was contained to the room. The occupier was given some precautionary checks by paramedics but came away unharmed.

Sunday 15 May 

Firefighters from Doncaster and Adwick were called to School Court, Doncaster, at 3.49am. Upon arrival they found a flat fire with a person trapped inside. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and rescued one casualty, who was handed over to the ambulance service suffering from smoke inhalation. The fire was then dealt with and extinguished by 4.49am. It is thought this fire started accidentally, with the ignition coming from a discarded cigarette.
