Weekend incidents 17/18/19 January

An electric kettle accidentally placed on a gas hob sparked a fire at a bungalow on Caine Gardens in Kimberworth on Friday night. Rotherham and Elm Lane firefighters spent around 50 minutes dealing with the incident, which started shortly before 9pm.

Dearne firefighters spent 30 minutes dealing with a car fire on Beechville Avenue in Swinton on Friday night. The blaze was started deliberately around 11.30pm.

Cudworth firefighters dealt with a fire involving a Ford Fiesta on Royston Road around 2.30am on Saturday. The cause of the fire is not known.

Firefighters from Dearne fire station tackled a car fire on Dearne Road just before 10am on Saturday. The fire started accidentally.

An hour was spent by firefighters from Elm Lane, Tankersley and Rotherham fire stations dealing with a house fire on Bradgate Lane. The fire involved an airing cupboard and is thought to have been caused by some faulty wiring. No one was hurt in the blaze. The fire started just before 10am on Saturday.

A lorry caught fire on Shawfield Road in Carlton, caused by some welding work being undertaken on the cab. Barnsley and Cudworth firefighters dealt with it around 10am on Saturday.

A white transit van was set alight on Carr Road, Deepcar at around 3.30am on Sunday. Tankersley firefighters were at the scene for around 45 minutes.

A scooter was set alight on Tickhill Square, Denaby Main just before 1pm on Sunday. Edlington fire crew attended the incident.

A postbox on Wellgate in Rotherham town centre was set alight just after 4pm on Sunday. Rotherham firefighters wer on the scene for about 10 minutes.
