Man Suffers Double Arson Attack

A Vauxhall Astra estate and a Ford Transit minibus were destroyed by fire in Barnsley on Monday morning – just 48 hours after two of the owner’s other vans were also set ablaze.

Firefighters from Brampton Bierlow attended Monday’s incident on Norman Street, Thurscoe, shortly after 2.00am. In the previous incident, two vans had been set on fire just after midnight on Saturday.

Diners Evacuated After Fire

Around 15 people were evacuated from a Little Chef just after 6.30pm on Monday, after a water tank at the back of the restaurant caught fire.

The diners waited outside for over an hour as firefighters prevented the blaze from spreading to the restaurant itself and a nearby electrical sub-station on Prince of Wales Road, Sheffield. They were only allowed back in after electricity workers declared the sub-station safe.

Nobody was injured in the fire, which is believed to have started accidentally after a stray cigarette end set fire to some rubbish.
