District Fire Safety Team Leader

Contract: Permanent

Salary: Grade 8 (£30,785 - £33,437)

Hours: Full time - 37 hours per week

Work Pattern: Flexi time

Location: Various locations within South Yorkshire

An opportunity has arisen within our Protection team for a District Fire Safety Team Manager.

The post holder will be responsible for managing and administering the Business Fire Safety requirements of their district(s), in order to secure the achievement of the strategic objectives adopted by South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue. The post holder will be expected to attend fire safety related incidents and provide support as necessary.

The role will involve responding to business/technical safety issues, implementing the requirements of fire safety legislation and providing competent advice and guidance to staff, premises responsible persons, enforcement bodies, operational officers and members of the public.  You will lead and manage the activities of Business Fire Safety personnel in line with organisational objectives, so previous management experience is a requirement.

You must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and experience of compiling and interpreting statistical information or data, to create and deliver technical reports. The role also requires the management of legislatory enforcement including assisting in the preparation and presentation of evidence at formal hearings or court as required.

Experience of working within a Business Fire Safety environment and knowledge of technical fire safety legislation, codes of practice, policies and procedures is crucial.  You will need to be qualified to A-level standard or equivalent and have attended and qualified on recognised higher level fire safety technical courses.  A current driving licence is essential.
