National Resilience Instructor/Coordinator

Contract: Permanent

Salary: Grade 6 (£23,866 - £26,470)

Hours: Full time - 37 hours per week

An opportunity has arisen within our Resilience, Planning and Contingencies section for a National Resilience Instructor/Coordinator, based at the National Resilience Training Office in Rotherham.

The overall purpose of the role will be to provide National Resilience training and co-ordination to South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue (SYFR) crews and officers, enabling them to provide an efficient, professional response to a Chemical, Biological, Radioactive, Nuclear (Explosive) (CBRN(E)) or High Volume Pump incident; locally, regionally or nationally.

To be considered for this role you will have previous experience of delivering training to adults and a good working knowledge of equipment used in the Fire & Rescue Service, particularly in relation to National Resilience Assets, including Mass Decontamination Unit (MDU), Detection Identification and Monitoring (DIM) and High Volume Pump (HVP). You will have a rounded knowledge of the use and mobilisation of National Resilience assets. You will be able to plan and organise training and complete appropriate risk assessments. You will have experience of working within a safety critical environment.

You must possess an Award in Education and Training or equivalent e.g. PTTLS and have, or be willing to attend training relative to managing safely, the wearing of a Powered Respiratory Protective Suit (PRPS), appropriate driver training including LGV and competence assessment.

The key duties will include training operational staff in the use of MDU, DIM and HVP equipment in a safe manner, and other training, which may be required from time to time. You will also be required to organise and administer the delivery of training, prepare lesson plans and carry out risk assessments in relation to the activities that you will deliver.
