Procurement is carried out by the following three Sections:-
Supplies Section deals with the procurement of a wide range of general and operational goods and services for the Brigade.
Transport Section deals with the procurement of ancillary and operational vehicles, petrol, diesel and spare parts for vehicles.
Premises Section deals with new build, modification, maintenance and adaptations to buildings and utilities.
2002 saw a Best Value review of the procurement function, and as a result the Brigade will adopt the Audit Commissions "Good Practice Guide on Fire Service Procurement". In order to do this, the guide has to be mapped across onto the Brigade's processes and procedures and all three procuring section managers are involved in its implementation. To view the Best Value Performance Plan please visit the South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Authority site and go to the Best Value Section.
Running in tandem with the above will be the collection of data enabling a Procurement Strategy to be developed for the Brigade. This will complement the Procurement Policy already adopted.
E-procurement is inextricably linked with the Brigade's approach to e-government. As part of that process, tender information will be published on this web site.
