South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue works closely with schools and colleges across the county, offering a wide range of educational programmes.
Educating young people about fire safety is a crucial part of our work to reduce house fires, arson and hoax calls.
Around 70 per cent of the fires we attend are started deliberately, and this can divert our resources away from life-threatening emergencies.
Because of this, one of our key priorities is to reduce arson. We are no longer just an emergency response service – we also place a strong emphasis on working to prevent incidents happening in the first place.
