Weekend incidents 2/4 April 2021

On Friday at 09:27pm, crews from Parkway and Elm Lane were called to a car fire in Rotherham town centre. This car was found well alight in a small, confined car park at the rear of shops and flats. Firefighters left at 10:50pm and deemed the fire to have been started deliberately.

At 09:32pm on Friday, firefighters were called to a fire at a property on Shady Side, Hexthorpe. This was a two-storey house and the front bedroom well alight on arrival. Crews from Doncaster, Adwick and Askern were in attendance and luckily nobody was in the property at the time. The fire had started accidentally and crews left around 00:27am.

At 01:00am Saturday morning, firefighters attended a vehicle fire on Richmond Road in Sheffield. This was two vehicles, one car and one sprinter van, were well alight. The fire had been started deliberately and crews left at 02:30am.

A car had been deliberately set alight on Preston Way in Monk Bretton at 02:48am Saturday morning. Firefighters from Cudworth attended and left the scene at 03:25am.

At 02:06pm, crews attended a fire on Sheppard Road in Balby. This was a brick built garage/shed that was at the rear of a garden. The fire had been deliberately started and firefighters from Edlington were on scene until 03:40pm.

A gas powered patio heater set alight on Carrs Avenue in Cudworth at 03:31pm Saturday afternoon. This heater was being used for the first after being left uncovered outside for a while and had accumulated some debris in the top of it.  Crews from Dearne attended and left at 04:06pm.

At 04:00am Sunday morning, firefighters were called to a vehicle fire on Colwick Way in Sheffield. The front of this vehicle was well alight upon arrival which had spread into the interior. The fire was deemed to have been started deliberately and crews from Central left the scene at 05:09am.

Crews from Parkway, Central, Stocksbridge and Rotherham were called to a fire on Sheffield Road in Rotherham at 07:53am Sunday morning. This was a fire in a shop believed to have started accidentally. Crews left at 11:37am.

A shed was well alight on Doe Royd Crescent in Sheffield at 02:37pm Sunday afternoon. Firefighters from Elm Lane attended. The fire had started accidentally after some ashes from a bbq had been dispersed near the shed. Crews left at 03:10pm.

At 03:40pm, an abandoned motorcycle to the rear of Cantley Park allotments in Doncaster had been deliberately set alight.  Crews from Doncaster left at 05:12pm.
