Crews deal with overnight barn fire

A number of crews attended an incident in the early hours of this morning (28 February) on Common Lane in Stubbs Walden, Selby.

Initially, crews from Askern, Adwick, Cudworth and Doncaster white watch attended the scene following a number of calls we received at around midnight. Two appliances from West Yorkshire also attended the incident.

Crews arrived on scene to find a large farm fire involving a barn and number of different pieces of farm equipment. Approximately 80 tonne of straw was also involved in the fire and firefighters worked hard to prevent it from damaging nearby buildings using two main jets.

At around 2:00am, crews began to withdraw from the incident and it was scaled down.

Currently, firefighters from Edlington and Adwick remain on scene to damp down.

An investigation into the cause of the fire will begin when the fire is fully out.
