Derelict school fire

Six fire crews attended a fire at a derelict school on Grasmere Road in Barnsley on Friday evening at 7:10pm.

The three storey building was well alight when firefighters arrived at the scene.

Barnsley, Cudworth, Tankerlsey, Dearne and Elm Lane white watches attended alongside Stocksbridge.

Everyone worked together quickly and efficiently, bringing the blaze under control and preventing spread across the whole building.

There were no injuries and the fire is believed to have been started deliberately.

The crews left the scene at 10:45pm.
