Discarded cigarette most probable cause of Sheffield fire

Firefighters from Central fire station were called at 8.32pm to a fire on Sheaf Street, Sheffield, last night (Monday 20 May).

It is believed the fire, which caught hold of a wood and plastic hoarding that surrounded a derelict building, started from a cigarette that had been discarded.

The crew spent 20 minutes on scene and used a hose reel to extinguish the flames – which were out by 8.54pm.
