Firefighters rescue man from quarry

A man has been rescued by firefighters after falling down a cliff into a quarry on Hirst Lane in Stainton, Doncaster.

Fire crews from Maltby station and the Heavy Rescue Pump from Dearne station, equipped with the latest rope rescue equipment attended the incident at 9:20pm on Friday evening.

The young man is believed to have fallen around 10-15m onto a ledge.  A firefighter using the rope equipment was able to scale down the cliff to the man, securing a harness around him and lowering him the remaining 10m to the ground.

The man was then taken to hospital by ambulance.

Firefighters left the scene at 11:30pm.
