Firefighters tackle fire at derelict Barnsley pub

Crews from Cudworth and Barnsley were called to a derelict pub in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday 24 September).

Upon arrival at the building, on Rotherham Road, Cundy Cross, they found a large amount of waste had been piled up to the rear of the pub.

It is thought that the rubbish – which included old pub equipment and furniture – had been set alight. The fire then spread to part of the building.

After fighting the fire with hose reel jets the incident was dealt with by 2.37am.

It is thought it was started deliberately.
