Four vehicles set on fire overnight

Firefighters were busy overnight dealing with four vehicle fires which were deliberately set on fire.

At 7pm on Monday night Cudworth station were called to a Ford Focus on fire on Crookes Lane in Carlton, Barnsley.  Then at 7:15pm fire crews from Maltby station attended a Ford Transit van on Stainton Lane in Stainton, Doncaster.  While firefighters from Elm Lane station had to deal with a 4×4 Mitsubishi which was well alight near Smithy Wood Road in Chapeltown.  Also this morning at 5:30am the fire crew from Elm Lane were called to a VW Golf which had been set on fire on Vauxhall Road in Sheffield.

Steve Helps, Head of Prevention & Protection said; “Arson attacks such as these take up a large amount of our resources when they could be needed at life-threatening emergencies.  These fires have the potential to spread to properties and could put lives at risk.  If residents have any information about people starting fires in their area, they can call Crimestoppers anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
