Heat lamp sparks barn fire

Three fire engines were called out to a barn fire at 2:50am on Thursday morning at a farm on Hardwick Lane in Aston, Rotherham.

On arrival fire crews from Aston, Birley Moor and Maltby stations found the first floor of the barn well alight.

Sadly, around 70 one day old turkeys have died in the fire which is believed to have started due to an electrical fault on a heat lamp.

Firefighters used hose reels to tackle the blaze.

Crews left the scene at 4:30am.
