Log burners warning after shed fires

Log burners caused two sheds to burn down in South Yorkshire.

Maltby, Aston and Edlington firefighters first dealt with a garage fire on Greenland Avenue, Aston at around 11.30am on Saturday.

Wood and cardboard stored next to the log burner had ignited and set fire to the garage and its contents.

Then, at around 6am on Sunday morning, Central firefighters tackled another shed fire caused by a log burner which had been left attended on Lismore Road in Sheffield.

Firefighters are warning residents to make sure wood and log burners are properly installed, chimneys and flus are swept regularly and that flammable materials are stored in a safe place well away from the furnace in order to prevent further fires.
